Binding setup

How to... Snowboard

20th November 2021 | 0 comments

We will advise you how to adjust the binding to fit your boot and show you how to mount the binding correctly on your snowboard. Just follow a few rules, everyone can do it!

Anyone can adjust the bindings at home, all you need is a screwdriver and basic knowledge of how to do it. In this video we used a set from Gravity Snowboards, but with most other manufacturers the setup is very similar. Properly set up binding in relation to the boot and snowboard greatly affects the rideability of the whole set.

1. Adjusting the binding

The first step is to clip the boot into the binding. If the boot overlaps more at the heel, you need to move the binding foot forward by loosening the side screws on each side and sliding the foot. If the binding does not adjust properly, check that you have the correct size binding according to the size chart. The axis of the strap must run through the centre of the boot lacing. To adjust, simply loosen the lock and slide the strap along the toothed band to the correct length. By extending the wedge on the heel, you can adjust the ideal heel angle.

2. Mounting the snowboard binding

If you have a base cap on your bindings, you will need to remove the base cap to mount it to your snowboard. The width of the crotch is individual. If the length of the snowboard is chosen correctly in relation to the height of the rider, mounting on the middle pair of inserts is recommended. Insert the center disc into the binding and adjust your angle. If you are unsure of the angle setting, choose 15 degrees for the front binding and 9 degrees for the rear binding. You can tell if your bindings are properly centered in relation to the snowboard by looking at the snowboard from below. The boot in the binding must not overlap more on one side than on the other. If the rotation of the binding does not suit you, choose a different position for the screws in the centre disc and move the whole binding.
