YOW Surf Cruiser: Ride the Wave of Retro Skateboarding

When it comes to combining surfing and skateboarding, the YOW brand has a clear answer. You've known their surfskates for a while now, but this time the brand has reached deep into the roots of skateboarding and unleashed a brand new product into the world. Introducing the Surf Cruiser, a hybrid between a surfskate and a classic cruiser.

Are you getting a little dizzy from the combination? We'll explain what the Surf Cruiser is, what it can do and what you get with it.

YOW Surf Cruiser: Ride the Wave of Retro Skateboarding

Why a Cruiser?

Short and simple, the cruiser is used for comfortable, fast transportation and zigzagging through the streets. What are its main advantages?

  • It's compact - the smaller size (usually 27-35") and light weight allow you to carry it comfortably in your hand or on a backpack.
  • It has a kicktail or double kick for agile reactions, mastering tricks and overcoming obstacles.
  • The softer and larger wheels can handle a variety of surfaces.
  • The shorter wheelbase makes it very responsive, making it suitable for fast street manoeuvres.
  • The Surf Cruiser takes all these features for granted, but brings that floaty surf motion and great stability into the equation.

              Legasee Truck

If a surfskate truck had a baby with a classic skateboard truck it would be called Legasee. This shiny new retro truck with modified geometry is the main ingredient that sets the surf cruiser apart from the surf look. It gives you a floaty surf ride while maintaining the power and playfulness of a classic skate.

              • This is a kingpin truck with an extended axle angle for surfskate-like performance.
              • The use of higher bushings results in better kick and more fluid weight transfer from side to side.
              • The truck is designed in three sizes - 129, 139 and 149 mm.
              • Legasee is found on surf cruisers up front, it determines direction and allows you to turn and lean at higher angles.
              • The rear truck is a classic 90° kingpin to guarantee stability, much like fins do on surfboards.

YOW Surf Cruiser: Ride the Wave of Retro Skateboarding

              Fast, Stable & Fun

The bottom line is, if you're looking for a skate that will let you cruise through the city carefree, and the next day you'll be able to do one trick after another in the skatepark or ride in the pool - the surf cruiser will be the tool that will make all your wishes come true.

              • Thanks to its stability, it allows you to lean into it more and develop more speed.
              • You'll enjoy smoother and sharper turns and the same level of fun and creativity as on a traditional skateboard.
              • In short, you'll get something from everything, with a perfect balance that gives you total freedom.

So where are you heading on your surf cruiser?
