GORE-TEX materials are created by laminating the GORE-TEX membrane with highly durable fabrics. Their 100% waterproofness is ensured by a special seam taping technology. Suitable for the most demanding conditions.

GORE-TEX Membrane

Unique two-component membrane. Part of the membrane of the expanded PTFE contains more than 1.4 billion microscopic pores per square centimetre. These pores are approximately 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water but 700 times larger than a molecule of water vapour. Therefore, water in its liquid state cannot penetrate the GORE-TEX membrane, whereas water vapour can easily pass through it.

An oleophobic substance (oil repellent) is incorporated into the structure of ePTFE. This allows water vapour to pass through, but also creates a natural barrier that prevents the penetration of contaminants such as oils, cosmetics, repellents and food ingredients.

The result is a permanently waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane.

GORE-TEX Laminates

GORE-TEX laminate is produced by laminating the GORE-TEX membrane between highly durable and extremely breathable fabrics. These laminates can be used to create entire pieces of clothing, jackets, boots or gloves, or incorporated into high-stress areas to increase their durability and abrasion resistance.

Taping of seams

The needle holes are very small, but they could still let water through. Therefore, even a perfectly waterproof, breathable and windproof fabric will not protect you from moisture and discomfort unless the seams are fully taped.

To guarantee the absolute waterproofness of GORE-TEX products, special GORE-SEAM and MICRO GORE-SEAM seam taping technologies are used. The taping completely covers all small needle holes that have been created in GORE-TEX laminates during the production of clothing, footwear or gloves.

The narrower and lighter MICRO GORE-SEAM tape allows for a more functional and modern fit with more precise curves.
