Different Snowboard Camber Types

How to... Snowboard

8th November 2022 | 0 comments

Each snowboard manufacturer offers several versions of their own camber profiles (or types, if you will) and orientation in them is not easy for an uninformed person. So let's introduce the four basic types of cambers that each manufacturer uses.

Camber (Traditional Camber)

Camber type is a suitable choice for freestyle and all-mountain riding. When riding a snowboard with traditional camber, the rider has to exert more effort when initiating the turn andit is easier to catch an edge, so it is not very suitable for beginners. On the contrary, experienced riders will appreciate its accurate, stable and lively ride with precise response and high pop-off.

Camber

Rocker (Reverse Camber)

Snowboards with traditional camber profiles have been slightly displaced in recent years by the increasingly popular boards with the opposite rocker profile. This is because these boards are very easy to control, you are less likely to catch an edge and they are fun and stable to ride.

Rocker

Hybrid

Like the name suggests, hybrid profile is a combination of camber and rocker, as well as the benefits of both types. Each snowboard manufacturer has their own versions of the hybrid profile, and in general, these boards are a versatile solution for all types of riders.

Flat

Flat profile means that the snowboard has no camber or rocker - it’s flat between the contact points - and a large part of it touches the ground. This means that the board is very stable and can handle any terrain.
