Big things happening in Burton these days! This brand is not only about snowboarding, but also about sustainability and responsibility. And that's exactly why it was awarded with the new B Corp™ certification. What is it about? Read in the article...

„Burton has always stood for more than snowboarding“

It's official! Burton joins the list of companies that share the same worldview and now falls under the B Corp™ certification. What does this mean exactly? This certification confirms that the brand has high requirements for sustainability, social responsibility and economic transparency. It is now on the list with more than three thousand brands from one hundred and seventy countries from the whole world. It thus shares values with brands such as Ben&Jerry or outdoor clothing brand Patagonia. But Burton is the first snowboard company to meet the standards and can boast with this certificate.

Burton does not keep it secret that its long-term intention is not just to produce snowboards. It considers its customers to be a community closely tied with snowboarding, but it is also not indifferent to the environment and the equality of women in society. It seeks to draw attention to the climate change in its own way - for example, the brand has recently closed all its stores and online stores for 24 hours; uses more environmentally friendly materials for the production of boards; all snowboards are Forest Stewardship Council™ certified and all softgoods are bluesign® approved. Burton therefore hopes that by joining the B Corp™ it will inspire other brands to stand out from the crowd and speak up about burning issues of today.

CERTIFIED B CORPORATION™

Companies that hold the B Corps™ certificate are companies that are actively involved in the social and environmental iniciatives, transparency in business management, and strive to balance their profits with a deeper sense of brand existence. The B Corps™ represent a global change in business leadership and strive to create a more inclusive and sustainable economy. They help states and non-profit organizations to tackle social problems and work to reduce inequalities, fight poverty as well as work towards protection of the environment around us.
