Jones Mercury FASE Men's Snowboard Bindings

A new generation of the popular model with an innovative system for quick entry into the binding – FASE Fast Entry System.

At first glance, it looks like a traditional two-strap binding. But Jones Mercury FASE is much more than that! It has two straps, yes. And thanks to them, it offers the genuine response and comfort you are used to. However, performance is combined with progress in the form of the revolutionary FASE® system.

The FASE System ensures easy entry into the binding in two intuitive steps – slide your foot in and tighten the ankle strap. And you're ready to go. No sitting in the snow and no tedious attempts to hit the ratchet with the strap. Getting out of the binding is just as easy. Seven years of development and testing by professionals, including Jeremy Jones, guarantee reliability and an uncompromising experience in any terrain.

The character of these bindings will satisfy all demanding riders focused on all-mountain and freeride. Mercury offers a perfect connection to the board, a stiffer construction for precision, perfect damping, and dimensions that match classic Jones bindings. The FASE System is perfectly integrated here, without increasing the volume or weight of the binding. So get a taste of what it's like when proven technology is masterfully combined with innovation that takes the experience to a new level.

  • Flex: 4/5
  • Skill: advanced, expert
  • Terrain: Downhill/All-mountain 9/10; Freeride/Powder 10/10; Freestyle/Park 6/10
  • Pair weight: 1.79 kg (size M)

FASE® System

  • Easy entry and exit from the bindings
  • An even better feeling of solid connection
  • Unadulterated performance of two-strap binding
  • Quick setup even while riding
  • Verified by riders in all possible terrains and all possible conditions
  • Lightweight and small footprint
  • Compatible with all snowboard boots
  • The AutoBack – a highback with a revolutionary system that allows you to jump into the binding without the assistance of your hands. The intuitive design of the highback automatically closes as soon as you insert your foot into the binding and opens when you release and lift your ankle. The AutoBack can also be collapsed completely forward for cable car rides or for storage.
  • The FastStrap – an ankle strap with an extra-long serrated strap that stays connected to the strap even when you exit the binding, so you don't have to hit the ratchet with the strap when you get on, but you can tighten it straight away – quickly and easily with just one hand.
  • The Locked-In Toe Strap – a lower strap that you set once and never have to worry about again thanks to the LSR 2.0 ratchet and unique three-pronged strap. The strap is designed to stay in the same position, complementing the Fast Entry System and allowing for lightning-fast entry into the binding.

Fusion XR Baseplate

The Fusion XR Baseplate is designed to feel like it's not there at all - for a perfect connection to the board.

  • It has an asymmetrical shape, a low profile and is made from an innovative blend of four materials that provide the ideal balance between strength, cushioning and responsiveness.
  • The only hard contact with the board is a minimalist ring around the disc, surrounded by foam that absorbs vibrations and maintains the natural bend.
  • This minimal footprint design delivers natural flex, board connection, efficient energy transfer, strong edge response, and lateral flexibility.
  • The FASE system is seamlessly integrated into the heel without adding bulk. The bindings in size M measure 294mm in length, the same as classic Jones bindings.

AsymFlex Highback

Designed for the perfect balance between performance and comfort. A medium-wide profile and medium-stiff flex for edge control when turning, while still providing enough flexibility for tweaks and stylish turns.

  • Winged Outline – A shape with lateral arching for a natural fit and efficient power transfer. These "wings" on the highback act as leverage and propulsion in turns.
  • The bottom remains stiffer for control and support, while the top is softer for comfort and mobility.
  • Asymmetrical Spine – reinforced at the edges for strong response, softer in the middle for flexibility and all-day comfort.
  • 2-position Tilt – tool-free adjustment for a more reactive or relaxed ride.
  • The highback can be completely collapsed, for example, for a comfortable ride on the cable car.

Other Features

  • ImpactCush Pad – absorbs vibrations and shocks from hard impacts. The sliding pad is perfectly integrated with the FASE system and has a 3° slope for better response when cornering.
  • DualFlex Ankle Strap - The asymmetrical strap has a stiff TPU core for lightning-fast response and softer TPU edges for all-day comfort and boot fit.
  • Adaptive Fit bottom Strap – a flexible outer contour adapts to the shape of the boot, while a firmer center ensures a secure fit along with a grippy texture on the inside.
  • Aluminum ratchets – high-quality aluminum for maximum durability.
  • LSR 2.0 Auto-Lock Lower Ratchet – on the lower strap you will find a ratchet whose tightening you can adjust once and do not have to do more than once. This allows for effective use of the FASE system.
  • Universal Mounting Disk – All Jones bindings include a mounting disk compatible with traditional 4x4, 4x2 inserts and the EST/Channel mounting system.
  • Tool-less Strap Adjustment – the strap length can be changed on the go with a simple movement.

How to Choose Snowboard Bindings

Rule number one: boots first, then bindings! The right snowboard gear must match and fit perfectly, so don't underestimate its selection and follow a few important steps.

How to Choose Snowboard Bindings

Choosing the right bindings depends on several different factors. The hardness of the bindings, size, type, material, and, of course, your budget are all important. We have a simple guide to help you make the best choice. But if you're still unsure, stop by our store in Brno. We'll discuss it together and recommend the best bindings tailored to your needs.

Boots First

Bindings should fit the size of your boots. That's rule number one. If you're choosing bindings in a store, it's best to bring your boots with you and try them on to see how they fit. The straps of the bindings should fit snugly around your boots. The easiest option is to combine bindings and boots from the same brand. These models are designed to fit together automatically.

Soft or Hard Bindings?

Choose the hardness of your snowboard and bindings according to your riding style. Softer bindings are more playful and suitable for both beginner riders and freestyle. We recommend choosing slightly harder bindings if you prefer hard carving on the slopes or freeriding.

Types of Bindings

The binding fastening method determines the basic characteristics of the binding: how easy it will be to step into it, how long it will take to fasten, and how you will feel when riding and connecting with the board.

Classic Two-Strap Binding

Classic Two-Strap Binding

Strap bindings consist of a baseplate, a heel cup, and straps. The lower strap can be fastened over the toe or over the instep, but it is always necessary to use both hands and fasten both parts of the strap together.

FASE System

FASE System

Classic-lovers will appreciate the smart and simple FASE technology, which makes it easier and faster to step in, while offering the same riding experience and no extra weight or bulk compared to two-strap bindings.

Flow Design

Flow Design

At the beginning of the season, you set the straps and then don't have to worry about them anymore. You step into the binding through the heel, which you simply click into place, making it a much faster way to put on your boots compared to two-strap bindings.

Supermatic

Supermatic

The Nidecker Supermatic is a revolutionary, fully automatic binding that retains the two-strap feel and works with all snowboard boots. Getting into the Supermatic requires no use of your hands at all.

Step On

Step On

The Step On system also offers similarly easy entry without bending over and sitting in the snow. It works exclusively with compatible boots, but its advantages include low weight and simplicity. Just step in and go.

Which Foot is in Front?

Advanced snowboarders have long known which foot should be in front and which behind. But if you're a complete beginner who has never stood on a board before, there's a simple trick to find out. Try running a short distance outside and jumping as far as you can. Did it work? Which foot pushed off the ground? That's the foot that should be on the snowboard first.

If you still don't know, ask a friend or family member to stand behind you and gently push you forward unexpectedly. The foot you push off with first is the one that will be on the board first.

What Angles to Choose When Mounting Bindings

And while we're on the subject of binding direction, it's important to keep in mind the angle at which to attach the bindings. Whether you prefer downhill skiing or jumping on rails, you'll be comfortable riding at 15° and -9°.

Overlap of the Binding Baseplate over the Snowboard Edge

Once you have successfully screwed on the bindings and are happy with the angle and stance, there is just one last important detail to check. The bindings (including boots) must not overlap more at the heel than at the toe (or vice versa). An unbalanced binding position can cause problems when riding – in short, your boots and bindings will constantly catch on the snow. And that really spoils the impression of a perfect ride!
