Hyperlite Codyak Wakeboard

Cody Hesse came up at the Valdosta Wake Compound, he's spent more time riding there than any other wake park. This experience has provided Cody a chance to ride almost every board out there and the Codyak is his vision. Selecting his favorite features and working with Aaron Stumpf to ensure the best construction possible, this is by far his favorite shape ever. Cody describes his new board saying "I shaped a simple, easy to ride board for everyone, like a standard shape with a narrow profile and thin as can be." We are convinced you'll enjoy this free feeling, forgiving & festive cable wakeboard.

Specifications

  • Board Flex - 4/5
  • Woodlite Core - The perfect core for park boards with a lively feel and deep-rooted durability. 100% lightweight Paulownia is the meat in this gourmet sandwich, 20% lighter than the competition.
  • Abrupt Continuous Rocker - This rocker line adds a little more kick to the speed that so many riders look for. The Abrupt Continuous rocker line transitions to a slightly exaggerated tip and tail rocker, creating added pop without sacrificing speed into the wake.
  • Variable Edge Design - Edge shapes that differ from tip to tail, most commonly shifting to sharper edges near tip & tail from a more forgiving, rounded or beveled shape under stance.
  • Reinforced Stance Area - Additional fiberglass laminates to the stance platform managing flex between your feet while increasing flex in the tip & tail.
  • Sintered Base - The strongest and most durable base from Hyperlite is a great choice for cable parks.
  • Urethane Sidewall - Molded urethane flexes seamlessly with a wakeboard and bonds to top and base laminates for a fully bonded super tough construction.
  • Flat Tip / Tail Base Design - A minimal shape approach providing a solid connection to features while pressing or a loose feel on a skim style surfer.
  • Sized Up Philosophy - Advances in board construction have reduced board's overall weight, keeping swing weight at a minimum. Combined with the wake sizes of today, this evolution means it’s time to ride a larger board delivering more pop and airtime plus more stable and secure landings.
  • M6 Inserts - Delivers a more secure fit of the bolts to the inserts, improving bolt retention keeping binding hardware locked down.
  • Aaron Stumpf - Aaron Stumpf leads the Hyperlite research and development team shaping many of bestselling wakeboards and surfers. A product design specialist with 25 years of experience, Aaron also creates Hyperlite's manufacturing processes and innovative construction formulas.

Wakeboarding

Whether you have been riding a wakeboard for some time or you are a complete newcomer to the sport, there are a few things you should always keep in mind when buying a new wakeboard. In our offer you can choose wakeboards from leading brands Hyperlite and Ronix.

The most important selection criteria are dimensions, preferred riding style and bending of the wakeboard. If you are a beginner, try to find a board with more pronounced channels in the base, which are better controlled and forgive mistakes. More expensive wakeboards, mostly professional models, offer specific riding characteristics that will be used and appreciated by experienced riders.

Choose the dimensions of the wakeboard according to your weight

Your weight plays a major role here. According to a simple table, you can easily determine the correct size of the wakeboard. On our website you will always find these informations next to the product detail. Several lengths are usually suitable for each weight category.

Shorter wakeboards are more suitable for beginner riders. They are slower, but offer better handling in the air.
Longer wakeboards are more suitable for more advanced and experienced riders. They hold better on the surface, so they are faster, but they are harder to control when jumping.

Will you ride behind the boat or in a cable park?

We also choose the wakeboard according to where we mainly want to ride. In our offer, we divide wakeboards into boards intended for a cable park or behind the boat. From this, other parameters are derived, mainly the base used and the number and type of fins.

Choose a board with a durable base for the cable park

If you are attracted by riding in a cable park and jumping over obstacles, choose wakeboards with a durable base that protects your board during frequent riding on rails and kickers. Removable fins are also important for park boards, which would bother you in obstacles.

Choose a wakeboard with fins if u plan to go behind the boat

When riding behind the boat, you can use any wakeboard, preferably with four removable fins, or with six, where four are firmly profiled (or molded-in) and two middle ones are removable. A larger number of fins improves the riding properties of the board, which is then faster, holds better when riding on the edge and does better withstand various tricks. However, if you are a complete beginner, feel free to purchase the board with two fins, which guarantee excellent stability. There are also riders who prefer to ride without fins, the so-called "finless" boards, but this requires higher level of skills and mastered technique, because the board glides very easily on the water and it is difficult to maintain direction.

The bending of the wakeboard or rocker determines the riding characteristics of the board

Continuous Rocker - There are countless rocker bendings. Each rocker is constructed according to the model's focus on riding style. Rocker is mainly used for park wakeboards.
Stage Rocker - This way of bending is unique among wakeboards behind the boat. The classic rocker is complemented by a concave for a better slide on the wave and thus prevents the edge from being swallowed by water.
Rocker Late - The wakeboard remains straight between the bindings and the tip and tail rise only behind the binding. This bend is suitable for both types of driving - universal.
Rocker Early - This bending is used under by the Ronix brand. This is a full-area bend of the wakeboard, thanks to which riding in the park is ideal.
Camber - This revolutionary camber bend design is also from the brand Ronix. There is the opposite bend between the bindings than is usual with wakeboards, so the rider achieves the correct posture without transferring all the force to the back leg. These wakeboards are suitable for behind the boat rides.

Types of bases

Wakeboards suitable for cable park have a sintered base, which is resistant to obstacles, and wakeboards behind the boat have an extruded base.

Sintered Base - a durable base designed for the park for all types of obstacles.
Enduro Base - has a better glide for easier boat rides, but is not suitable for the park.

Edges

Monocoque - Reinforced fiberglass edge. This technology is mainly used by the Ronix brand, thanks to which the edge is very strong.
Krypto Cable - Sidewall ABS edge is very impact resistant. Used for cable park models.

What are the channels in the base for?

The more channels & the deeper, the easier the ride in the curve or the lighter the impact. The disadvantage, however, is riding on rails. Wakeboard, which has no channel, is the maximum jibb for riding on obstacles. However, the disadvantage is more difficult edging or impacts from the rails.

Who are the fins for?

The fins replace the channels and are suitable for riding behind the boat. Wakeboards in the cable park have lower fins and most riders separate them straight away.

What are the differences in the shapes of wakeboards?

The shapes of the boards are different and each riders choice is individual. Wakeboards behind the boat have a more complicated cut-out of the tip and tail compared to the shapes intended for the cable park. On the contrary, they are usually simple. They are straight, made to the tip or have a specific shape designed for easier pop.
