The Santa Cruz brand has introduced its top-of-the-line Vala ebike in an aluminum frame design, but with the same benefits as its carbon sibling - balanced suspension, powerful drive unit, precise workmanship, and a lifetime frame warranty.
For an e-bike, and made of aluminum, the Vala AL maintains a reasonable lightness, and at 24 kg it is just as agile as the carbon one. The frame is designed to withstand everyday trail riding, but also steep technical terrain. And because there is beauty in simplicity - and freedom too, the aluminum frame was designed without rear flip chips. This eliminates the dilemma of how to tune the geometry, and instead you get a universal golden mean served up.
Santa Cruz has used its previous experience with the VPP system to develop a new rear shock with a simple one piece link. The Bosch Performance Line CX drivetrain is market-leading and in its latest version is even quieter, lighter and more compact. The Vala electric bike drive offers 4 standard modes: Eco, Tour, eMTB and turbo.
The system is powered by a 600 Wh battery integrated into the bottom frame tube to reduce weight, noise and volume. The power unit delivers up to 85 Nm of torque, 600 W of power and weighs just 2.8 kg.
Recent software update significantly increases torque to 100 Nm and power to 750 W!
